How we work

We publish our reasoning, not just our conclusions.

  • Written in the openEvery piece carries the full reasoning, not just the call.

A conclusion on its own cannot be checked. If we say a business looks mispriced, the note says what we read, which numbers we leaned on, and which assumptions the argument rests on — so a reader can follow the same path and decide where they get off. The reasoning is the useful part; the call is just where our reasoning happened to end.

  • Wrong in publicWe don't delete or quietly edit a piece once the thesis has broken.

Research that only shows its winners teaches nobody anything, including the people who wrote it. When a thesis breaks we leave the original up exactly as written and add what we got wrong and why. The archive is meant to be an honest record of how our thinking has actually gone, not a highlight reel.

  • No inside trackNo early-access tier, and no separate briefing for anyone.

There is one version of every piece and one publication time. Nobody is shown a note before anybody else, and there is no tier that gets more detail — the same reasoning reaches every account in the same form on the same day. A practice that publishes its thinking openly cannot also run a private channel for some readers.

  • What would change our mindEvery note states the assumption that, if it breaks, breaks the thesis.

Most research leaves this out, which is what makes it hard to argue with. We name the single thing we would have to be wrong about for the whole argument to fail, before we know whether it holds. It makes the piece falsifiable, and it gives a reader something specific to disagree with rather than a verdict to take on trust.

  • Three people, reachable directlyNo anonymous desk and no ticket queue.

There are three of us and no layer in between. If something we published does not hold up, the reply comes from whichever of us wrote it — not a support address. That is a limit as much as a feature: it is only true while the practice stays this small, and we would rather say so than pretend to a scale we do not have.

Run by three people. No fund house behind it.
